Speedway is a popular seasonal summer form of motorsport with 25 venues around most N.Z towns and cities.   Generally operating between October and April these events consist of club provincial, national and international events.   This unique style of motorsport has developed in N.Z that is not seen anywhere else in the world. For this reason and others , this offers me  as a photographer subjects that differentiate my captures from others.   Speedway is alive with emotion, excitement, danger, euphoria, disappointment, anger and tension. This is what inspires and encourages me to explore beyond the physical subjects. I have grown up within the sport since I was a child where my introduction to photography began. I have become further involved with pit crewing for other drivers and I have raced myself competitively at various times.  I picked up my photography again after the sale of my last car and speedway has been where I have developed and honed my skills. My background in the sport has given me further understanding of the potential the sport has to offer in captured images.
